What made you want to specialize in Neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy?

My personal journey through mental health and self-discovery has profoundly shaped my approach to counseling. As an AuDHD Queer Trans individual living with trauma, I experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating a mental health system that often lacked understanding of neurodiversity and gender identity. Through more than 15 years of personal growth and healing, I discovered that my lived experience, combined with my lifelong fascination with culture, sociology, and psychology, uniquely positioned me to offer the comprehensive, informed support I once sought.

Inspired by the quote, “Be the adult you needed as a kid,” I am pursuing graduate education in counseling. Today, I bring not only professional training but also extensive knowledge, carefully curated resources, and genuine, unconditional acceptance to my practice. I deeply believe that each person carries their own remarkable story and inherent gifts. It would be my privilege to walk alongside you as you explore and embrace your authentic self, helping you uncover your unique strengths and potential.

My Professional Background

With a passion for mental health advocacy and community support that spans over 15 years, I began my journey as a volunteer with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in 2008. There, I focused on community outreach, working to reduce mental health stigma and provide essential education to teachers and first responders. After completing national training in peer support facilitation, I expanded my expertise through 50 hours of specialized domestic violence training at House of Ruth.

My path led me to explore the intersection of Eastern and Western approaches to wellness in 2018, diving deep into Buddhist psychology, meditation, and yoga. I enhanced my skill set by completing a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course and becoming a certified yoga instructor. This training enabled me to lead mindfulness-based support groups, combining traditional and contemporary approaches to mental wellness.

Today, I'm furthering my commitment to inclusive mental health care by volunteering with Neurodiverse Network, supporting our local Neurodivergent community. Alongside this work, I'm pursuing my Masters in Clinical Counseling, bringing together my diverse experience to better serve others on their mental health journeys.
